Remember that old rap song, “Freaks Come out at Night”? I think it should be changed to “The leeches come out any time there is new technology and they think they can make a fast buck off of it”. Yeah that title fits much nicer to the subject at hand.

Like my new song title says, anytime there is a new technology there is someone nipping right at the heels of it trying to make a quick buck. So why should podcasting be any different?

Do a Google search, or search on any other search engine you like, for podcast and related search terms and you are guaranteed to turn up an ad or a site trying to sell you a book about how to podcast.

Ponderous, F’ing ponderous.
How long has the word “podcast” and the technology of podcasting actually been around and there are supposedly books about it already?

And who is stupid enough to buy these so called learn how to podcast books? Find out who they are because I have a bridge to sell them in Brooklyn (that old gag).

Why would anyone want to buy a book for podcasting when there are plenty of free how-to sites ?!?! I want you to take a look at this very web page. There in the upper left hand corner on the menu bar is a nice button that says Podcasting How-To. Go ahead and look for yourself. I said look. . .Am I right or am I right?

Jordan has a nice little podcasting how-to section and guess what? It’s free! No charge, none, zero, zilch, nada. No tax to pay either! What a country we live in.

There are other sites that also have (gasp) free podcasting lessons ! Oh this internet thing is gonna take off I tell yah.

So please, avoid buying those books. Sure everyone has a right to make money, but seriously this is just ridiculous. It’s just some people looking to make a quick buck off of what they believe is a fad. Then they can say they were at the forefront of the technology and laugh all the way to the bank.

Also, if you are one of those poor people who actually bought one of those books, please tell me why. I won’t judge you I swear. Oh wait, I’m sorry it’s too late. I already have.
