What is a podcast?

The word 'Podcasting' is a fusion of the words 'iPod' and 'broadcasting'. To the creator, podcasting is to radio what blogging is to journalism. It gives anyone with a voice, PC and internet connection the chance to be heard.

A podcast is subscription based. New audio content is delivered to a listener's iPod or other portable media player just seconds after it is created.

Podcasting uses time-shift technology (like TiVo). This means you can listen to your favorite podcast whenever and wherever you choose.

Podcasting puts media back into the hands of the user.
